So you need to volunteer at a Swim Meet....

Swimming is different from other team sports in that parents are needed to help run a swim meet. In fact, around 40 parents are needed each swim meet to help a meet run smoothly. All parents are expected to volunteer at both SAL and USA swim meets throughout the season.

Many of the volunteer positions are quick and easy to learn - and allows you to get the best view of the pool!

Timer: 2-3 Timers per Lane. Each team will be assigned the number of timers by lane. All timers should have two stopwatches that are started on the strobe light and stopped when any part of the swimmer's body touches the wall. One timer in each lane will have a clipboard and be responsible for recording all the times (don't forget to circle the middle time) and two timers will have plungers that are also pressed at the finish. (9-12 Positions PER Meet)

Head Timer: Monitor all lanes to determine when timing assistance is needed (maybe someone stopped their watch before the race finished) and stand in for lane timers when requested. (One Position Per Meet)
